DAFREE CIC is a Community Interest Company (CIC) registered in England & Wales under registration number 16652804. Our mission is to raise awareness and reduce the incidence of domestic abuse in the UK and abroad.

2. Information we collect

We may collect and process the following types of personal information:

Contact details: name, email address and phone number (if you reach out to us or sign up).
Technical data: IP address, browser type and activity on our website.
Community data: interactions and content shared within our Skool group (subject to Skool's own privacy policy).
Support requests or sensitive disclosures shared through contact forms or emails (kept confidentially).

Messages and newsletter sign-ups sent through the forms on this website are received and stored by our web host, Netlify, on our behalf. The 18 questions in the Red Flag Checker run entirely in your browser: your answers are not stored, saved or sent to us or anyone else.

If you use the Awareness Assistant ("describe it in your own words"), the text you type is sent securely to our AI provider, Anthropic, so it can write your reflection. DAfree does not store or read it, it is not used to train AI models, and only an anonymised, daily-changing code derived from your IP address is kept briefly to prevent misuse of the service. Please leave out names and other identifying details.

3. How we use your information

To respond to your queries or messages.
To send you updates and community invitations (with your consent).
To provide access to our community and related resources.
To improve our website and outreach.
To comply with legal obligations and protect vulnerable individuals.

4. Legal bases for processing (UK GDPR)

Consent: for newsletters or joining our community.
Legitimate interest: to operate and improve our awareness efforts.
Legal obligation: for regulatory compliance as a UK CIC.
Vital interest: if we believe someone is at risk of serious harm. If you are at risk, please contact the emergency services in your country.

5. Sharing your information

We do not sell your data. We may share information with:

Trusted service providers, for example our web host Netlify (which processes our contact and newsletter forms), Google Fonts (which serves the typefaces on this website and receives your IP address when pages load) Anthropic (which provides the AI behind the Awareness Assistant) and the Skool platform.
Legal authorities, if required by law or in emergencies.
Internal volunteers or team members under confidentiality agreements.

6. Data security

We take appropriate security measures (encryption, access controls and secure hosting) to protect your information. Sensitive data shared with us is treated with care and confidentiality.

7. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have rights including:

Access to your personal data.
Correction of inaccuracies.
Erasure (the “right to be forgotten”).
Objection to, or restriction of, its use.
Withdrawal of consent at any time.
