I need help urgently. Who can I contact?

DAfree is not an emergency service. We are a community for awareness and education.

If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services right away: 999 in the UK, 112 in Europe, or 911 in the United States. In the UK, if you call 999 from a mobile and can't speak, listen to the prompts and press 55 to be put through to the police.

If you are safe but need help, the National Domestic Abuse Helpline (0808 2000 247) is free and open 24 hours a day. You can also get in touch with us and we will signpost you to trusted organisations that can offer the right help.

You are not alone. Professional support is available, and our community is here to stand beside you.

Can someone see that I visited this site?

Visiting this website can show up in your browser history. If you are worried someone may check your device:

  • Use a private or incognito window, so the visit is not saved in your history.
  • Afterwards, remove this site from your browser history rather than clearing everything, which can itself raise suspicion.
  • If you can, use a device the other person can't access, such as a trusted friend's phone or a library computer.

The Red Flag Checker on this site saves nothing and sends nothing.

What is DAfree CIC?

DAFREE CIC is a Community Interest Company dedicated to raising awareness about domestic abuse, supporting professionals, and educating communities through creative and inclusive initiatives. We operate in the UK and abroad, offering resources, events and community-led activities to foster awareness and prevention.

Is DAfree a charity or a business?

DAfree is a non-profit social enterprise incorporated as a Community Interest Company (CIC) limited by guarantee. We run like a business to achieve our mission, but because we have no shareholders, we are legally bound to reinvest 100% of our surpluses directly back into our community work of raising domestic abuse awareness.

For more regulatory details, you can read the government's official Community Interest Companies guidance.

How do I become a DAfree community member?

Becoming a member is simple. Click Join the DAfree community and you'll be taken to our community on Skool. There, you can create your account and instantly connect with others who are learning, sharing and growing together.

What is the DAfree Journey?

The DAfree Journey is a 9 level path of awareness where every step unlocks resources. You level up by engaging with the community, learning and sharing.

What kind of support does DAfree provide?
  • Educational materials on domestic abuse awareness
  • Survivor-led workshops and events
  • Campaigns to raise awareness and promote prevention
  • Creative platforms for storytelling and engagement

DAfree is not a domestic abuse service. If you are experiencing domestic abuse, or are worried about a friend or family member, help is available. Visit our Red Flag Checker page to find the right organisations.

Who can submit a story?

Anyone who has experienced or witnessed domestic abuse, directly or indirectly, can share a story. We especially welcome voices from survivors, supporters, advocates and frontline workers across different cultures and backgrounds. Every life matters.

Will my identity be protected if I share my story?

Yes. All stories are treated with strict confidentiality. You can remain anonymous, use a fictional name, or approve edits to remove any identifying details. We may also change names, locations or imagery to ensure your safety and privacy. Nothing will be published without your consent and approval.

How do I send my story to DAfree?

Email us at voice@dafree.org, or use our secure contact form. Consider whether you want to share your story publicly or keep it private, and whether you'd prefer your own name or to stay anonymous. Publishing your story is not a requirement for joining the DAfree community.

How can I get involved with DAfree CIC?
  • Share your knowledge
  • Volunteer your time or skills
  • Collaborate as a partner organisation
